MobilePASS 8.4 for Mac OS – Release Update

We would like to advise you that MobilePASS 8.4 for Mac OS will be available for download from the app store from 30 July 2015.

New Features and Enhancements

MobilePASS 8.4 for Mac OS supports the following new features:

    • New Management Platform Support – SafeNet Authentication Service (Cloud and PCE)
    • OS compatibility: MAC OS X version 10.9 & 10.10
    • Enhanced UI
    • Support for Time based (TOTP), Event based (HOTP) and C-R (OCRA) tokens
    • Support for FIPS 140-2 Level 1 cryptographic libraries
    • Security enhancements for Time and Event-based tokens
    • Available as an iTunes application for easy deployment
    • Default token name is now taken from the user name as configured in SAS

Upgrade Advisory

    • MobilePASS 8.4 for Mac OS does not support upgrades from earlier releases.

MobilePASS version 8.4.3 for iOS- Release Update

We’d like to inform you that an updated version of MobilePASS for iOS – MobilePASS version 8.4.3 for iOS will be available from October 6, 2015 on the App Store.

New Features and Enhancements

The release solves an issue that was identified after the release of iOS 9 regarding the use of MobilePASS Time-based tokens which resulted in OTP values being displayed repeatedly. This issue has now been resolved and MobilePASS no longer repeats the same OTP when working on iOS 9, configured with a 12-hour time format.

In addition we would like to highlight a new feature of iOS 9 which slightly affects the user experience during the Auto-enrollment process. With iOS 9, users will be required to provide explicit approval while opening the MobilePASS application during the Auto-enrollment process when initiated from the browser. This is an OS security enhancement which is applicable to any application and is not specific to MobilePASS.

iOS Platform Support

    • MobilePASS 8.4.3 is supported on devices running iOS 6 and above.

Upgrade Advisory

    • MobilePASS 8.4.3 for iOS can be upgraded from MobilePASS 8.4 and above.

MobilePASS 8.4 SDK for iOS- Release Update

Please be advised that an updated MobilePASS SDK for iOS is now available. The SDK allows organizations to implement OTP capabilities into their own mobile apps.

New Features

    • The SDK incorporates features introduced to MobilePASS 8.4.

    • Backend support for SafeNet Authentication Service.

We’d like to advise you that SafeNet MobilePASS version 8.4.1 for Mac OS X is now available for download from the App Store.

SafeNet MobilePASS 8.4.1 for Mac OS X introduces support for MobilePASS on Mac OS X El-Capitan (10.11) and bug fixes.

Upgrade Information

SafeNet MobilePASS 8.4.1 for Mac OS X runs on the following operating systems:

    • Mac OS X 10.9,10.10, and 10.11

MobilePASS Version 8.4 for BlackBerry 10 – Release Announcement

We‘d like to advise you that MobilePASS Version 8.4 for BlackBerry 10 will be available for download from the BlackBerry World App store towards the end of February. Previously, MobilePASS 8.4 for BlackBerry 10 was only available for customers using BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) 10 and 12 for deployment via customers’ mobile device management (MDM) system.

Upgrade Advisory

    • Customers using BES 10 or 12

    Customers who distributed MobilePASS 8.4 via BES will not be affected by this release.
    • Customers who have distributed MobilePASS 8.3.5 to users via the BlackBerry World app store
    Henceforth, MobilePASS 8.4 for BlackBerry 10 will be the sole application distributed via BES and the BlackBerry World app store.
    MobilePASS 8.4 does not override existing MobilePASS 8.3.5 installations and both versions will reside side by side on the same client device. As such, users of MobilePASS 8.3.5 can continue to use their installed apps, even if they manually download MobilePAS 8.4 from the BlackBerry World app store. To be fully operable, the newly installed MobilePASS 8.4 app will need to be enrolled and activated.

MobilePASS 8.4 for BlackBerry 10 Features

MobilePASS Version 8.4 for BlackBerry 10 includes the following features:

    • BES 10 and BES 12 support: MobilePASS 8.4 for BlackBerry 10 can be deployed by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) 10 or 12 to BlackBerry 10 devices.
    • Improved User Interface: MobilePASS 8.4 for BlackBerry 10 improves the user experience with an enhanced user interface.
    • Management Platform Support: SafeNet Authentication Service (Cloud) and SafeNet Authentication Manager are supported, offering full featured activation and policy management capabilities.
    • Cryptographic Security: BlackBerry FIPS 140-2 Level 1 cryptographic libraries are supported.
    • Default Token Name: The MobilePASS default token name for the first token is taken from the user name as configured in SafeNet Authentication Service.
    • Time-based security enhancements – Countermeasures have been implemented, alerting users to the possibility that their device may have been compromised, causing future OTPs to be generated maliciously.

    • Event-based security enhancements – Event-based tokens can now be configured to support a delay in pre-defined number of seconds before another OTP is generated.

SafeNet MobilePASS version 8.4.1 for Windows Phone – Release Update

We’d like to inform you that an updated version of MobilePASS Version 8.4.1 for Windows Phone will be available on the Windows Phone store from 21 March, 2016.
SafeNet MobilePASS 8.4.1 for Windows Phone resolves several issues, introduces new features and enhancements.

New Features and Enhancements

    • Support for Windows 10 Mobile – SafeNet MobilePASS 8.4.1 for Windows Phone introduces support for Windows 10 Mobile.

Advisory Notes

    • SafeNet MobilePASS and MobilePASS – SafeNet MobilePASS 8.4.1 for Windows Phone is available in the Windows Phone Store under the name, SafeNet MobilePASS, independently of the previous app named MobilePASS.
    • SafeNet Authentication Manager (SAM) and SafeNet Authentication Manager Express (SAMx) customers – For SAM and SAMx customers, SafeNet MobilePASS 8.4.1 for Windows Phone is not an upgrade to MobilePASS 8.1 for Windows Phone or MobilePASS 8.4 for Windows Desktop. It is a separate application. Note: SafeNet MobilePASS 8.4.1 for Windows Phone can be installed side by side on the same device with currently installed MobilePASS for Windows Phone installations. However, we will not be issuing future updates for MobilePASS for Windows Phone beyond the final version 8.1.0.8.

We’d like to advise you that SafeNet MobilePASS version 8.4.4 for iOS will be available for download from the App store from April 18, 2016.

SafeNet MobilePASS 8.4.4 for iOS is a maintenance release. It enhances accessibility, and resolves several security issues.

New Features and Enhancements

    • Accessibility- When the iOS VoiceOver feature is activated, SafeNet MobilePASS 8.4.4 for iOS operates with a spoken interface.
    • Security Enhancements- Several security issues have been resolved.

    • Default Token Name- The MobilePASS default token name for the first token is taken from the user name as configured in SAS. After activation, the default token name includes the user name.

Upgrade Advisory

    • Existing Installations of MobilePASS- Existing installations of MobilePASS will continue to work with the current versions of the authentication servers. The new clients will continue to work with the existing versions of the authentication platforms, and will comply with the new features when available in the authentication servers.

    • Server-side PIN Policy- In previous versions of MobilePASS, special characters were accepted as part of the server-side PIN. This behavior has been fixed to comply with server-side PIN policies supported by MobilePASS. A detailed table of this PIN policy behavior is available on page 2 of the CRN.

SafeNet MobilePASS version 8.4.4 for Windows Desktop – Release Update

We’d like to advise you that SafeNet MobilePASS version 8.4.4 for Windows Desktop is now available for download from the Gemalto Service Portal (DOW4302).

This is a maintenance release and resolves an issue involving the appearance of “unknown tokens” as detailed below.

Handling Unknown Tokens

In some cases, following users resetting their Windows password, tokens labeled “Unknown Tokens” appear in the list of MobilePASS Windows Desktop tokens. To resolve this issue, users will be required to uninstall the currently installed version of SafeNet MobilePASS for Windows Desktop and install version 8.4.4. A detailed explanation of this installation process is available with the CRN included with the software download package.

We would like to inform you that updated versions of MobilePASS+ iOS and MobilePASS 8.4.4 for Windows Desktop are now available as detailed below:

    • MobilePASS+ for iOS 1.1.7: is now available on the App store. This is a maintenance release and resolves issues relating to the support of Push notifications on devices with non-English language settings.

    • MobilePASS for Windows Desktop 8.4.4: The installation package has been re-signed with an updated certificate resolving download issues on Internet Explorer and it is now available for download from the Gemalto Service Portal (DOW4302). The download link on the MobilePASS OTP Software Authentication Download Page has been updated.

SafeNet MobilePASS v.8.4.2 for Android – Release Update

An updated version of SafeNet MobilePASS Version 8.4.2 for Android is now available for download from the Google Play.

SafeNet MobilePASS v.8.4.2 is a maintenance release. It introduces an enhanced user interface and addresses security issues.

New Features and Enhancements

    • Enhanced security with stricter certificate checks that are mandated now by Google Play. If the certificate on the back-end server (SAS PCE/SPE, SAM, SAMx, or SPA) is expired, users will not be able to enroll tokens once their device is upgraded to this new MobilePASS version. (Expired certificates should be unlikely for production systems, but could exist in POCs.)
    • MobilePASS 8.4.2 enables access to application menus from the Action Bar.
